Structural Timber Elegance
Something we often stress is the versatility, and beauty, of Douglas fir as a building material. Though we highlight these qualities, one that should never be overlooked is the strength and durability of Douglas fir. With the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any wood species, Douglas fir is widely used in structural framing. Whether incorporated into screened porches, sunrooms, deck frames and many other practical uses, it is the perfect candidate to replace conventional framing to add an element of warmth, depth, and charm to any project.
Our timber post and beam frames are the perfect replacement for conventionally framed porches that have cladded columns or vinyl caps. Our timber post and beam kits come standard with #1 grade, rough sawn, free of heart centre, Douglas fir timbers. Each post and beam kit features authentic mortise and tenon joinery, with no visible hardware once installed and comes with a set of engineered drawings if required.
Additionally, we make sure that every kit leaves the shop protected, and ready to withstand the elements. We sand and stain all kits before they leave the shop. We also ready them for delivery by wrapping them tightly in labeled tarps so they can be unloaded and organized on-site. For installation, we include a package with all necessary hardware, and a detailed set of instructions that walk you through every step of the process
